Snow Storm 2011

Elmont Photos

Took this photo on Linden Boulevard in Elmont, New York the day after a major snow storm. The Town of Hempstead and the community did a great job in clearing the snow and preparing for the day. Elmont, New York is located in Nassau County, on the border with Cambria, Heights which is located in New York City. Elmont is home to the Belmont Racetrack where the third jewel of the Triple Crown is held. It's amazing how cities are able to prepare for business as usual.  Good Stuff

GOOD MORNING PATRICK!  Did they ever do a great clean up job!  I got a call from an AR member yesterday who lives in New York - he posted his photos the the 15 more inches of snow NY got! Anyone moving to NY will benefit knowing that your city can certainly work hard so that everyone can get on with their day despite the weather! -- G

hey Patrick!

Yes this storm was a bit of a shock.  did not expect the amount that came down.  I was in Brooklyn yesterday for a consult and man o man...that place was like a snow war zone. If you did not have a 4 wheel drive type of car, good luck.  Stay warm! :)

Good Morning Laura

Thanks for the comments. I was in Brooklyn yesterday also. It was a little nuts and there were blocks that appeared that shovels at most made one pass. But folks were digging their vehicles with some trying to create private parking spots on public streets. I Love NY :-). Have an awesome day.

Good morning Patrick, I was in the city on Saturday and was amazed how hard it was to park there.

Good Morning Joshua

Thanks for the comments. I'm trying to understand this. The Mayor says that street cleanup in the city went well. But from what I saw in Brooklyn and Queens, "marginal" may be a better description. May be Sanitation is over burdened with the workload. Have a great day.

We are also in the cleanup mode in Maryland. Our area is not equipped for the major winter storms. Power outages have been a very big issue in the Washington, DC suburbs.

The colors of January in Maryland. Life is good in Montgomery County!
